Directions & Parking

Located at the corner of 16th and H Streets in Northwest Washington, St. John's is near the McPherson Square and Farragut North Metro stations. Limited street parking is available; free valet parking is offered for certain hours.

Rector Transition

On October 17, 2017, the Rev. Dr. Luis León, rector of St. John's Church, announced his retirement in May 2018.

Join us on the first Wednesday of the month at 12:10 p.m. Programs are free of charge and open to the public. This month we will be joined by Concert Organist, Janet Yieh.

A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Janet Yieh is pursuing her Master’s degree with Thomas Murray at Yale’s Institute of Sacred Music and School of Music. She also serves as Organ Scholar at Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven under the direction of Walden Moore. In 2015, Janet received her undergraduate degree in organ from the Juilliard School and completed four years as Assistant Organist at historic Trinity Church, Wall Street in New York City.
Janet won first prize at the 2015 Franciscan Monastery & DC AGO Young Organist Competition, the 2015 Northern Virginia & Potomac AGO Quimby Competition, and the 2013 Philadelphia AGO Competition. Janet performs concerts around the US and Asia, with recent highlights including Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, Washington National Cathedral, Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral, Hong Kong and Kawaguchi Christ Church Cathedral, Japan. As a collaborator, she has accompanied the Washington Chorus at the Kennedy Center and NOVUS NY orchestra at Carnegie Hall. She has been featured in Juilliard’s Focus Festival! for modern music and premiered new music for the organ. Janet’s playing has been broadcast on the national radio show Pipedreams, New York’s WQXR and WWFM. She is also featured on two recordings, Celebrating the Skinner Organ (Schott), and Julian Wachner: Symphony No. 1, Works for Orchestra and Voices (Musica Omnia/Naxos).
A pianist from age 4 and violinist from age 7, Janet began playing organ at age 11 with a scholarship from the Potomac Organ Institute. She graduated with honors from St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in 2011. She is a member of the Association of Anglican Musicians and Colleague of the American Guild of Organists. Former teachers include Paul Jacobs, John Walker, Wayne Earnest, Victoria Shields and Ruei-hwa Shyu.www.janetyieh.com.
