Lent gives us an opportunity to reflect upon what it means to fully surrender to God’s will – to completely let go of everything we think we know. We are asked to relinquish control over all the things we can’t control. We remember where we’ve come from and who we are and that we each have our own, unique relationship with God. But we are asked to leave behind all the old ways of doing things which no longer serve us in the present day.
How do we achieve this state of being of absolute surrender to God and His plans? Through faith and trust. The history of the Israelites’ emancipation and deliverance reminds us that God keeps His promises. The coming of Jesus and the salvation He offers is yet another example of God’s promises to us. What more proof do we need to completely trust in the Lord, to fully surrender to His divine plan for our lives? What is holding you back from this state of surrender? What do you need to release this Lenten season? I challenge you to consider this: when you surrender and let go, God gives you so much more than you could possibly imagine.
