Welcome Our New Interim Rector

Dear Parishioners:

I am delighted to advise you that at its April meeting, the Vestry voted unanimously to call the Rev. W. Bruce McPherson to be our Interim Rector and he has accepted that call. Bruce has been an ordained minister for more than two decades and has spent almost all of that time serving as an Interim Rector at various parishes throughout the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. Prior to becoming an ordained minister, Bruce was an executive in the financial services industry.

Bruce came highly recommended by both diocesan leaders and Luis, who has known Bruce for many years.

Bruce writes, “It is a great honor to be invited to St. John’s during this important time. But first, this is a time to celebrate the ministry of Fr. Luis Leon who has served St. John’s for the past 24 years with great wisdom and insight and faithfulness. The Holy Spirit has clearly blessed the ministry you share. Let us pray that the same Spirit will be our guide as we move forward.”

Please plan to be in church on Sunday, July 1 to welcome Bruce to St. John’s Church.

Senior Warden
