Welcome to St. John's Church, Lafayette Square—a vibrant historic Episcopal church located across from the White House. We invite you to join with us for worship, Christian fellowship and outreach.

From our organization as a parish in 1815 to today, St. John's Church has provided a powerful symbol of faith in the heart of our nation's capital.

At St. John's, we believe Christ is calling us to be a renewed church in a changing world. In worship, education, parish life, and social action, we seek to expand our horizons by serving God by loving one another.

Register for Faith & Race Explorations

Saturday, September 25

We will launch the first of our quarterly Saturday morning Faith & Race Explorations on Saturday, September 25.  The theme of the morning will be an exploration of “Truth and Reconciliation” as tool for community healing.  Hazel Monae, who is the bishop’s new Missioner for Equity & Justice, will join us to help guide us through the morning.  There will be a mixture of plenary and breakout sessions, and we will use the full campus to ensure appropriate social distancing.  Also, to the extent possible, we will provide a welcoming coffee, as well as a closing lunch.  We believe this will be a wonderful way to start a discussion about what it means to be St. John’s Lafayette Square in the aftermath of all that has happened over the past year, and to discover what we are being called to be.  (This is open to everyone, regardless of age, and whether or not you attended Sacred Ground.)
