From our organization as a parish in 1815 to today, St. John's Church has provided a powerful symbol of faith in the heart of our nation's capital.

Directions & Parking

Located at the corner of 16th and H Streets in Northwest Washington, St. John's is near the McPherson Square and Farragut North Metro stations. Limited street parking is available; free valet parking is offered for certain hours.

White House Historian Stewart D. McLaurin interviews former Secretary of the Navy John H. Dalton on October 29, 2023

Stewart D. McLaurin, President of the White House Historical Association, converses with John H. Dalton about his inspirational American success story traveling the world and working across private and public sectors, including four presidential appointments. After graduating with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1964, Dalton served on two submarines. In 1977, President Carter nominated him as President of the Government National Mortgage Association and later a member and then Chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. In July 1993, President Clinton nominated him as the 70th Secretary of the Navy where he served for five and a half years.
