The Reverend Andy Olivo came to St. John’s in June 2014 after serving for four years, first as a seminarian and then as associate rector, at St. Paul’s Church in Chattanooga, TN, where he worked primarily with college students, post-college young adults, and in Christian Education and pastoral care. Andy was active in the Diocese of East Tennessee as an elected and appointed member of several diocesan committees, and he worked with other area clergy and students to restart the Episcopal campus ministry in Chattanooga.
Originally from southern Indiana, Andy moved to the mountains of East Tennessee to attend Milligan College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in religion and history. While in college he worked as a children’s director at St. John’s Church in Johnson City, TN, and began the discernment process for ordination. Andy attended seminary at the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee), where he received his Master of Divinity degree.
Andy is married to Catherine Outten Olivo and they have one son, Charles Dana Outten Olivo, and one daughter, Mary Claire Rich Olivo. Andy enjoys going to the theater, listening to podcasts, visiting the National Portrait Gallery, reading the New Yorker, and sitting in his backyard with his family.
Andy works primarily with the Latrobe Fellowship (young adults), Theology on Tap, and the pastoral care and outreach ministries of the parish.
