St. John’s Speaker Series is a popular adult education offering held between services at 10:00 AM on select Sundays from September to May. Nationally noted individuals, from scholars and poets to world leaders and faith leaders, present on pressing issues of the day and impactful historical events to expand our knowledge as individuals and as a community.

The Former Director of the Center for Presidential Transition at the Partnership for Public Service, David Marchick will talk about the presidential transition process in general and the transition now underway between the outgoing Biden Administration and the incoming Trump Administration.

Marchick served as Chief Operating Officer of the United States Development Finance Corporation during the first year of the Biden Administration. As the Biden Administration’s senior appointee at the agency, he managed agency priorities, oversaw business operations and led the agency’s work to support manufacturing of more than 2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the development world. Marchick also served in the Clinton Administration for seven years, holding positions at the White House, Department of State, Department of Commerce and Office of the United States Trade Representative.

Since August 2022, David Marchick serves as Dean of the Kogod School of Business at American University. In this role, he leads the school’s work to support more than 2,000 students and offer more than two dozen undergraduate and graduate degree and certification programs. He previously was an Adjunct Professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth University.

Marchick holds a law degree from the George Washington University, a master’s degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and a BA from the University of California at San Diego.
