Meet Eric Bailey
Lay Minister for Youth and Young Adults
As the new Lay Minister for Youth and Young Adults at St. John’s, I’m thrilled to be on this journey with the youth and their families as we explore what it means to follow Jesus together. At St. John’s, everything we do—from the worship and community outreach to the fun events and learning opportunities—is intended to help us grow in our relationship with God and one another. We strive to be a supportive faith community where our youth can thrive. When I was younger, I formed part of vibrant youth and young adult groups, with dedicated clergy and lay leaders who helped to shape my walk of faith. I want to offer our youth the same level of guidance and support that I was blessed to receive.
Formation Hour
On Sundays, St. John’s children and youth meet for a Formation Hour that takes place from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM. This runs concurrently with the Speaker Series so that there is an event for every age. Children ages three through grade five meet for regular church school classes during this time. Middle and high school youth gather in the Youth Room to pray, learn, and grow in faith together.
Youth Group (Grades 6–12)
Middle and high school youth gather weekly in the Youth Room on the second floor of the Parish House for an exploration of life and faith with their peers. Clergy and other adult leaders support their formation through prayer, conversation, and fellowship.
Confirmation
As part of our youth program, we offer occasional Confirmation classes to youth who want to learn more about the Episcopal Church and make a mature commitment to their faith in Christ.
