DISCOVER THE PRACTICE OF SILENT PRAYER
Tuesday evenings in Lent, 5–6 pm
Join us on the remaining evening of April 8, for an opportunity to discover a simple practice of silent prayer in community, for which the Sunday Speaker Series discussions will provide initial teaching and encouragement. Newcomers to this practice are particularly welcome, and the cumulative effect of several weeks of this form of prayer together may be surprising.
For this final session, there are two in-person locales conjoined via the internet, and briefly opened by the Rev. Professor Sarah Coakley in Alexandria. This final event will involve 15 minutes of shared silence followed by a very simple contemplative Eucharist in both locales. The locations are:
St. John’s Church (1525 H Street, NW)
Convened by the Rev. Robert W. Fisher
The Oratory, Immanuel Chapel, Virginia Theological Seminary (3737 Seminary Road, Alexandria)
Convened by the Rev. Professor Sarah Coakley
Sign up at bit.ly/silent-prayer-lent-2025. Please plan to arrive at your preferred location by 5:00 p.m. Sessions will begin promptly at 5:15 p.m. and end promptly at 6 p.m.
